The Weight of rocks, sand and dirt averages around 2800 – 3000 lbs.per cubic yard.
Most ½ ton pickup trucks will easily handle ½ yard of heavy material. [aprox. ~1,500 lbs.]

When spread out, most materials should cover approximately 150 sq feet at 2″ of thickness
Larger rocks cover less square feet. Each product has a suggested coverage.
3/4″ rock 150 sq ft
1 1/2” rock 120-130 sq ft
2-4” cobble 100 sq ft
6-8” cobble 80 sq ft
To calculate what your square footage is
Step 1. Measure the length and the width of the area that you are trying to cover.
Click on the volume calculator Cubic Yards Calculator to determine how many cubic yards of material you’ll need.
Step 2. Divide your area by the suggested square foot coverage of the product you are interested in.

If your landscape has complicated shapes, curves, and angles draw it up on a piece of paper as close as possible and bring it to us.
Most trailers have a GVW sticker which will say how much each trailer can hold.
